Membership Requirements

Who can be a member?

Student or Professional related to Electrical, Electronics, Computer and Telecom Engineering.

How to renew membership?

When ever your contact detail or other particular changes then submit your particulars / contact details to membership and registration committee.

Transfer of membership (one category to other):

If you fulfill requirement of next category prescribed in point no. 6, then submit an application along with documentary proof and fees to membership and registration committee.

Membership categories and Eligibility criteria

  1. Corporate Member
    1. Fellow: Every candidate for admission to the institution as Fellow or for transfer from member to Fellow shall produce evidence acceptable to the Central Council that he/she satisfies the following conditions, that he/she:
      1. is at least 40 years of age
      2. possesses a B.Sc / B.E degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution.
      3. has at least 15 years recognized experience in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering profession.
      4. is holding position of higher responsibility and has attained eminence in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering profession.
      5. or in a very special case: has made extra ordinary contribution to the cause of IEEEP, which is to be determined by central council.
    2. Member: Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of member shall satisfy the Central Council, that he/she:
      1. is at least 32 years of age
      2. possesses a B.Sc / B.E degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution.
      3. has at least 8 years recognized experience in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering profession. (Two years experience will be counted towards Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering and additional one year for PhD.)
    3. Associate member: Every candidate for election or transfer to the class of Associate Member shall satisfy the Central Council, that he/she:
      1. possesses a B.Sc / B.E degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution.
      2. has 2 years recognized experience in Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering profession. (Two years experience not required in case of Post Graduate qualification.)
  2. Non-Corporate Member
    1. Graduate: Every candidate for election as Graduate or for transfer from class of Student to the class of Graduate shall produce evidence to the satisfaction of the Central Council that he/she satisfies the following conditions, that he/she:
      1. has followed, as a bonified student, a course of studies of Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering  at University or College recognized by the Central Council and has been awarded a Degree or equivalent qualification after completion of such course.
      2. has passed the Graduate ship examination of the Institution.
    2. Associate: Every candidate for election as Associate Graduate or for transfer from Graduate to the class of Associate shall produce evidence to the satisfaction of the Central Council that he/she satisfies the following conditions, that he/she:
      1. is at least 26 years of age
      2. has at least 3 years education at a recognized polytechnic or equivalent Technical Institution leading to a diploma acceptable to the Central Council and further that he/she has had at least 5 years experience as Professional Engineer in the field of Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering or has been, associated for that period with any branch of Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering.
    3. Student: Every candidate for election Student shall produce evidence to the satisfaction of the Central Council that he/she satisfies the following conditions, that he/she:
      1. is at least 17 years of age
      2. is qualifying himself for the profession of Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and Computer Engineering or is being trained as such.
        or
        has after matriculation with science passed an examination of Student Membership prescribed by the Council or such other examination as may be considered equivalent thereto by the Central Council or may have any exempting qualification there form.

Note: Central council / Local council are the final authorities to cancel or approve any membership.
